The coast is a meeting point in the lives of residents and visitors, a space where you can sunbathe and practise activities such as scuba diving, snorkelling or surfing and round it all off with a nice aperitif by the sea.

Much of the shoreline is bordered by a coastal path with information panels about the area, an excellent option for enjoying the proximity of the sea and its cliffs.

Jinámar, a beach and a site of scientific interest

This small coastal area is covered with materials from the sedimentary complex (it belongs to the municipalities of Las Palmas and Teide) and is the only area with a critically endangered endemic species, hierbamuda (Lotus kunkelii).

There are also marine subfossil remains from an ancient raised beach and remains of basaltic outflows and of the ancient Roque Nublo agglomerate.

La Garita Beach

This is one of the most popular and inviting beaches in the municipality of Telde. It has fine, dark sand and is a quiet family beach with bar/restaurant services.

It used to be called Puerto Madera (“Port Wood”), a name linked to the activity of unloading the wood needed for building housing and sugar mills in the sixteenth century.

It has been awarded the Blue Flag of the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), as it meets the explicit service requirements.

Because of its strong swell, the red flag is raised most of the year, but it is a setting that many surfers tend to use.

Taliarte Pool

This pool has a solarium where you can enjoy the sun’s rays and take a dip in calm water thanks to the shelter provided by the breakwater. It has a clean seabed full of life that you must not miss if you are a scuba diving and/or snorkelling enthusiast.
