San Juan District
Asset of Cultural Interest since 1981.
A colonial district, the foundational core of the city, built around the church. It is a special place, whose square and avenue are prime features of the urban fabric. Here you can view the houses of the city’s nobility, offering a wonderful picture steeped in history.

San Francisco District
Asset of Cultural Interest since 1981.
If you walk up Calle de Inés Chemida, beside a beautiful aqueduct, you reach the San Francisco District, the oldest neighbourhood in the Canary Islands, with small whitewashed houses and cobbled streets full of charm, peace, simplicity and harmony.

Basilica of San Juan Bautista
One of the city’s most iconic buildings. It harmoniously combines a Gothic doorway with neo-Gothic towers and Baroque altarpieces. The silver cross bears the venerated figure of Christ of the Waters, of Mexican origin. Much of the treasure belonging to this basilica is kept inside the Shrine of Our Lady of the Rosary.

Llanos de San Gregorio or Jaraquemada
A lively, open shopping area where you can make your purchases in a warm, friendly atmosphere. You will see buildings of every kind (with stonework, semicircular arches and high floors, buildings for the mercantile bourgeoisie…).

León y Castillo House and Museum
Birthplace of the brothers Fernando (Marqués del Muni) and Juan de León y Castillo, prominent figures in the history of the island at the end of the nineteenth century. A Canarian-style building that houses a notable collection of art objects.

Cuatro Puertas Archaeological Complex
The Canarian aborigenes chose this mountain to worship nature. They carved the volcanic tuff, decorated its walls, and with their rudimentary tools they sculpted structures that have survived over time. It is an essential visit for lovers of the history of the Canary Islands.

Los Cernícalos Ravine
Spectacular terrain for walking accompanied by the gentle sound of water carving out waterfalls and gorges. On the way you will encounter a great wealth of flora and fauna. This is undoubtedly one of the routes with the most visitors per year in the island of Gran Canaria.

La Garita Blowhole
A perfect place to enjoy nature and observe the power of the sea. The best time to see this geological phenomenon is at high tide, when the ocean waves crash into the lava formation, creating spectacular columns of water that rise towards the sky.
