Telde is the second largest city in Gran Canaria and has much to offer families. Here we leave you with a few ideas for sharing in good company.

San Juan Park

This park, with its more than 135,000 m2, consists of different areas that include forested slopes, play areas and recreational zones. You can wander under pergolas, enjoy the sculptures of the Telde-based artist Plácido Fleitas, replenish your energy in its cafeteria or revel in the peace and calm of its small Zen garden in honour of the Taiwan Chinese writer San Mao. This is truly a perfect place for spending a day in the open air.

Santa Rosalía Park

A jewel in the heart of the San Juan district a few metres from the church. An especially charming corner for the rest and recreation of children and adults, observing a wide variety of plant species, listening to the sound of running water and the captivating birdsong. This park provides added value in Telde’s teeming old district.

Hiking in the Los Cernícalos Gorge

A unique experience for nature lovers and hikers. This gorge, with its precipitous walls and exuberant vegetation, is an oasis of biodiversity in the midst of an arid environment.

Along its trails you will enjoy the freshness of crystal-clear streams and a broad variety of flora (red bugloss, bellflowers, watercress, etc.) and endemic wildlife (kestrels, lizards, amphibians and more).

Enjoy a day at the beach.

Telde has more than 10 kilometres of coastline, with cliffs, natural pools and spectacular beaches.

Melenara, La Garita, Salinetas, Ojos de Garza or Tufia are beaches where children can swim, play and build sandcastles.

Many of these beaches boast a lifeguard service and toilets and some, like Melenara, La Garita and Salinetas, are proud to fly the Blue Flag.

This museum displays a collection of objects relating to Telde’s culture and ethnography. Children can learn about the history of the town’s craftspeople through a variety of exhibitions and actions of the Municipal Folklore School.

The León y Castillo House Museum, the birth house of the León y Castillo brothers, offers an endless number of activities for all ages, artwork exhibitions and rooms and utensils from bygone ages.
